The technology for these features mostly exists already in Ozone Elements, but they aren't things you can access. My beef with the Reference Track, Tonal Balance Control NOT being in Elements: I mostly have been using it as a meter to check my balance in combination with my other plugins. They offer fancy features like uploading a reference track / reference folder or the Plugin Interconnectivity. By default, master assistant probably isn't perfect for this). This of course allows you to get a tonal balance for less-common mixes (let's say it's a-capella or a piano solo. You can get Ozone's Master Assistant and automatic features to reference the tonal balance of a specific reference rather than something based on their genre-based data-collections. This is obviously awesome and very helpful. It either does the exact same thing as Ozone Elements (EQ and Maximizer), or it uses the Vintage EQ and Maximizer. Other Key thing: It doesn't seem like Master assistant makes use of these extra modules. You can do most of these things with other plugins if you needed to stock plugins actually. Most of the other modules just seem like different types of equalizers to help you get into the nitty gritty details. I mixed using Waves SSL and J37 Tape and have the piece sounding pretty vintage already. I feel like you should have your tone colored and saturated as much as you like in your mix, then the master can just apply a clean, finalized polish to it. I'm working on some old-fashioned rock and blues projects so I tried the "Vintage" setting offered in advanced and I don't think it's really at all necessary: especially in the mastering stage. Personally, I don't know what it is, but I find that the Mastering Assistant in Ozone Elements produces the same or better results than the one in Ozone Advanced. But I'm starting to think that's really all that's missing: Bells and Whistles. Ozone Elements definitely has a lot less bells and whistles. The main Difference is Bells and Whistles TL DR – Ozone Advanced may not be worth it over Ozone Elements. Here's some things I noticed, but I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you've tried other Elements/Advanced Izotope products. Just minutes before I saw the promotion, I had downloaded the demo version of Ozone 9 Advanced. So I have been comparing them.
